Ryan's Field

Another visit to the Hayle Estuary - I could't resist the chance to see all the birds again and to try out my new lens 600mm Prime Canon that my father gave to me. The tripod took some figuring out but all in all it worked well. Unfortunately the birds were not so obliging and the Black -tailed godwit was nowhere to be seen.

Lapwing -  Vanellus vanellus

Grey Heron - Ardea cinerea

Little Egret - Egretta garzetta

Black-headed gull - Chroicocephalus ridibundus

Grey Heron & Lapwing

The heron was particularly disturbed by the Herring gull that kept flying over, the gull then chased the heron in flight across the lagoon.

Herring gull - Larus argentatus

Black-headed gull - Chroicocephalus ridibundus

Redshank - Tringa totanus

It was windier and colder today, the golden plovers and black - tailed godwit were nowhere to be seen and the redshank arrived just as I was leaving.
However, a great place to sit and watch the lapwing circling in the sky.
